The 2022 Solheim Cup competition held April 30th and May 1st hosted 16 competitors competing on either the Red team or Blue team. Strategic pairings by captain Darla Beaty and co-captain Darla Kirby (Blue) and Anne Wainwright and co-captain Samantha Mikeska (Red) assembled the additional team players:
Blue Team: Robin Anderson, Donna Childress, Carmen Ontoveros, Sharon Powell and Sue Fetherman, and Amy Thomison.
Red Team: Sue DeFrancesco, Cindy Lahey, Jill Marangoni, Paula Wilson (1 day), Becky Lucas (1 day), Donna Moore, and Cheri Radford.
After the first day of scramble format match play, the Blue team led with 7 and ½ points and the Red team scored 4 and ½ points. Coming from behind at the conclusion of the second day, the Red team pulled ahead to win the singles matches with every player scoring points in their matches. Of note, both Cindy Lahey and Jill Marangoni won their full points in their competitions. Congratulations!
Team members experienced great weather and a test of their skills over the two-day format; at the end of event, participants shared in congratulatory hugs and promises to meet head-to-head again in 2023.
